The placenta can be mom’s gateway to wellness postpartum as it contains high levels of various chemicals which are believed to help curb postpartum fatigue, the “baby blues” and more serious postpartum depression. Eating the placenta is also believed to also increase a mother’s blood levels of a hormone known as CRH (corticotropin-releasing hormone), a known stress-reducer.
