John V. Geisheker, J.D., LL.M., Executive Director of Doctors Opposing Circumcision discusses marketing circumcision and the lack of medical ethics in doctors who profit from genital abuse of children.
“The compromise they have come up with, and I think it is a horrible one, is to put the ball in the parent’s court…Basically, ethically, they have pulled themselves out of the situation and whatever the parents want, the parents can have. Now no one would tolerate that for baby girls but they seem to tolerate that for baby boys for reasons that have a lot more to do with money than with good medicine.”
“A lot of physicians will tell me, and have told me privately, and I have spoken to hundreds of them, that they very much fear coming out against circumcision, because they don’t want to anger their colleagues, upon whom they rely on for referrals.”
“It is a whimsical choice they were on the fence anyway, and the physician just pushes it by what I call ‘dangling’.”
“I think that marketing circumcision should be something taught at major business schools as one of the most ingenious marketing campaigns ever launched. Every objection has been managed. Every possible fear has been dug up and dangled.”
